| This picture shows 74 Sqdn lined up at RAF Tengah Singapore just prior to the disbandment of the Sqdn in 1971. I must say it was the happiest posting of my air force career. We also had a disbandment parade which was very moving. We were all lined up at attention with rifles at the present, it was just on sunset, one of those glorious sunsets that you get in the Far East. As the flag was lowered alone Lightning roared over our heads in full re-heat, it climbed vertically into the darkening sky and at the top of the climb the pilot extinguished re-heat and the aircraft just disappeared into the black sky, Hollywood couldn't have done it better. |
